I was the first-born child of a Kimono shop owner, and grew up in the heart of Japanese culture surrounded by such things as Kimonos and the Tea ceremony. Through meeting a Norwegian woman and seeing her fulfilled lifestyle, the door to English communication was opened up to me. It led me to do an English language postgraduate course at Nanzan University in Japan. Neuro- liguistics, which I learned as a part of my major, showed me the direction in which my heart was calling. It was the Arts, specifically ceramics.
After experiencing work as a curator, I got a job at a modern art gallery. I had some good soulful exchanges with foreign modern artists. That called my heart to be bohemian---to travel the world, to touch the artist’s soul. I journeyed to Australia, Maui, Asian countries, Italy, Holland, Turkey, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the USA(New York), Mexico and, of course, around Japan.
My time as world-wide wanderer was a time of working, learning and knocking on the door of warm hearts. The number of warm- hearted people with whom I could spend time is countless.
On the first day of the final year of the last century, I opened a new door, and 'tied the knot' with Atsushi.
Through working for a window- display company and then in an interior co-ordinator’s office, I found great joy in my clients' faces, with their reborn spaces. During my time as a window-dresser and interior co-ordinator, my work, with my policy of “fresh ideas of expression ”, “achieved ideas which hadn’t been done before within regulations” and made my clients very pleased. That is equal to my pleasure and the meaning of my work.
Having a child of my own changed me. After taking time off while my child was an infant, I started to make myself useful as an interior planning director for Studio Work. With good clients who like art in their life, I let interiors be an art form and put art in my work.
I learned many things during my worldwide bohemiam period. I reappraised my own culture, and was received warm-heartedly everywhere. I have been thinking how I can repay the treatment I received. I desire to do it one day, and I don't have any better way to do it apart from through my work which is based on Japanese culture. This desire and clients’ satisfied faces are always the keys to my work. Let Japanese art fly to the world through me.
